i wanted it to rain so badly on my head
that i dove into a cold lake
and swam out to the other bank
but when i got out to rinse all of the scum of of my body
i emerged from the water dry and warm
one million different thoughts crawled through my head
why'm i not soggy to the bone
why aren't i freezing cold, but rather like the night before
the storm came in
and ripped apart everything
the road to Tallahassee is a damp carpet
there's tires ripping holes in it, and parasite growing from it
i lay my head down to wet my face
i lost my legs
my bones did break apart
and a haunt, like a leech, crawls up my arm
i am dry in a puddle of rain
the air was cold
the wind grew stronger
the storm came in
it ripped apart everything
except this parasite in my mind
these ghosts in my eyes
the wind blew through this song
and ripped the carpet of the ground

(background sounds recorded at the Westcott fountain on FSU campus. it is said to have been old Tallahassee's gallows, where many criminals were executed. the spot was chose because it looked down over most of the city. ghosts of the executed are said to wander near the fountain at night)
