After seeing the grisly remains of Jamie spread-eagle on top of the boy on top of her car, Mädchen ponders over how she can continue to live her life. She feels as if a weight has been dropped upon her. If one were to continue with this metaphor, they might say that her life was like the water in a garden hose, and that this weight had blocked it from reaching the lawn.
Mädchen questions every decision she has ever made. The sun is very bright. She thinks and rethinks every action that she might consider taking. Because of this, she has not moved in fourteen hours. How could she after such a life altering event? There is still fragments of shattered glass all around her feet, both metaphorically and actually. Also, her car is broken and she has no money for a cab.
